Yoga Therapy for Tension Relief
Benefits: When you circle your neck, shoulders, wrists, hip and ankles its a great warm-up for your joints before a workout.
Also a great exercise for relieving stress and tension, and improving your flexibility. As well to be used to stretch to reduce tightness and pain.
Spending time to release tension consistency can have huge effects on your day by day. Small shifts every day lead to big shifts over time.
Practice as often as you can and needed.
This is such a simple and yet effective way that I have found helps me to release stiffness and tension in areas where there is pain in my body.
I have a shoulder that likes to scream at me daily…..as well as my low back…..along with other areas and circles always help!!
I found I can get my shoulder to just talk and not scream at me….
🙂
for the rest of the day…..if I do these type of circles exercises specific to the injury I have.
Once injuries have happened we can’t always reverse them, but we can manage them, as Doris told me in my recent private session with her, and this video is one of the ways to do so.
I was assigned specific migraine exercises….which included doing circles with my neck and head, during a private session with Doris and within a few months I have been able to decrease my medication by 1 dose. I have been on the medication for 8 years and never been able to do that.
These circle exercises have been great for me recently as I sprained an ankle this winter and was put out of commission for several weeks trying to elevate both the ankle and my spirits:) But, because I have been in Doris’ yoga classes, I kept moving my ankle in circles as I could and spreading my toes which she also taught me to do. I’m certain that my recovery time was shortened and my strength restored much more quickly because of these circling exercises! Also, I work at the computer often and the neck circles are often infused into my day and are a saving grace for sure! These exercises are very simple and save me a lot of pain and tension–Thank you Doris! You are a Yoga Genius! Even my hands and wrists love these simple, effective circles! Just Super!
Grateful,
Brenda:)
