Blade: This warm-up not only feels good, but it can be done at your desk whenever you need a quick refresher. It helps tone and strengthen the pectoral muscles and opens the chest.
The Blade also releases tension held between the shoulder blades, helping to relax the entire body. You can sit cross legged, or sitting on a chair or standing up.
These are also heart openers. Whenever there is emotion that I am holding in this area it will come up and out as I do these poses. Sometimes they come up a little later. It’s not always right away. I have learned that just bc I don’t feel something doesn’t mean it’s not in my body somewhere.
That is what Doris’ work does. As she always explains.
Over the past month I have been grieving….it started with having to make the decision to put my most precious kitty to sleep. He was mine and my husband’s…Angel…..!
We love him so deeply….🥲
Doris was there for me through all of it. She helped me to have the strength to understand that we needed to let him go and that it was his time.
After we let him go she was there for me constantly helping me to be aware of my physical body and how to support it along with being aware of my emotional and mental state and how to support myself and hubby through this.
She told me to go on walks daily which kept me in touch with my self and feelings. It has been helping me to face and process these very difficult emotions and not let them get shoved down somewhere in my body. She said to drink lots of water. When we are going through something like this our body gets hot, but also releases the stress hormone and flushing our system and doing Doris’ yoga therapy is what moves that out of our body. I have 100% experienced this.
She also helped with some poses to do for depression during her live classes. Doris and her work has without a doubt helped me to walk through this time in much a stronger way.
As I am moving through this time I have always understood our bodies tell us what is happening but I didn’t realize how easily things get stuck if we don’t pay attention.
This time has been very difficult and on a daily basis I still cry when something reminds me of my baby, but I am stronger then I have ever been walking through this and it is Doris and her yoga therapy that has without a doubt given me this strength.
Doris has helped me to continue to care for myself in a way I have not been able to do in the past bc I didn’t know how to. She is teaching me how to love myself at all times.
I love you very much Doris!! Thank you for your amazing work and your love and generosity!! đź’•đź©·đź’•
Beautiful tribute—sounds just like my Doris!🥰
This pose has been very helpful because of a lot of computer time lately! I love that the pose can be done either sitting or standing. My neck is also much improved after this exercise which may just be idiosyncratic to me, but I think is worth mentioning if anyone else struggles with occasional neck pain too. Doris always seems to intuitively know ahead of time what we all need to stay in our respective games with open, happy hearts!~ Doris?! Thanks Again for Being and for Being there to help us all through our current challenges 🙂 You lead by excellent example and are wise in body mindfulness (yes, I think that is a thing & and a thing you do so very well:)
