Breathing exercise – Uddiyana Bandha
Uddiyana Bandha is an abdominal lifting or upward-lifting lock.
This whole process creates a vacuum in your chest that allows a better circulation of blood to all the abdominal organs and brain. It is internal cleansing, detoxifying and activates your digestion. Activating the Uddiana Bandha is very refreshing, it will fill you with energy, especially at the abdomen, it also strengthens the abdominal muscles and diaphragm.
To get the best results and practice the Uddiyana Bandha safely, you need to take the following precautions:
- Try to practice in the morning or day for this breathing exercise.
- You should perform it on empty stomach, if you’ll perform this just after a meal, this can cause stomach pain and indigestion.
- If you are suffering from high blood pressure problems, you should not practice Uddiyana Bandha – it can increase your blood pressure rapidly.
- If you have ulcer and hernia I don’t suggested to perform Uddiana Bandha.
- During pregnancy or mensuration cycles a woman should not practice Uddiana Bandha.
There are two positions that you can try it on, first is the standing position, second is sitting position.
Exhale all the air out of your lungs, tuck your chin in. Pull the abdominals back towards your spine and up towards your rib cage and diaphragm.
Lean forward slightly, pause your breath – hold your breath as long as possible.
Inhale – lift your chest up. Perform up to 10 rounds
Oh my goodness does this breathing exercise WORK!
I have found it to be so very helpful for my digestive system. I have my husband doing it now as well. He is noticing the benefits and it hasn’t even been 6 weeks for him. Once he hits that mark he will really benefit the way I do. I love that you showed a second way to do this breathing technique Doris…..Standing up…..
I personally like it sitting down but my husband likes it standing up. Thank you so much for this video!
Namaste lovely lady…💕💕💕
