Back Release Pose / Eye of the Needle Pose
This stretch opens the hips and lubricates the hip joints as it massages and cleanses the inner abdominal organs. It also frees the shoulders and alleviates stiffness in the neck. This stretch relieves compression of the sciatic nerve by stretching the glutes, piriformis and lower back.
These muscles often tense up and cause lower back pain, so it is a good idea to keep them stretched on a regular basis.
I am now doing Doris’s yoga everyday for an hour and a half. It has helped me with my posture, tight ankles, feet, and my toes (and of course my stiff body). Before doing any yoga I could not spread or flex my toes. Now I am able to spread them. Also my balance was sooo Wobblie I needed to hold on while doing the poses. I now can do for longer periods of time without holding on!! Woohoo! Also I woke up with a kink in my neck and after doing Doris’s yoga that day it was gone! I have lots more energy and feel much better! I look forward to Doris’s yoga classes everyday.(you get replays for the class you take). It is an essential part of my daily routine!!!
